Ah, finally...Ear Drum, the long-awaited sixth album from Talib Kweli, will now hit shelves on July 24th, 2007. As for the title, Kweli explains that it was inspired by the image of the ear and of the drum. "I wanted to focus on finding a sound that makes you move," he says, "and that's where the word 'eardrum' popped in my head." Don't cringe yet, Kweli hasn't gone pop on us. In fact, Ear Drum underscores his penchant for thought-provoking lyrics. "Eat to Live" and "NY Weather Report" are headphone favorites, while "The Perfect Beat" and "Hostile Gospel" are trunk-friendly bangers.
